Marvel Movies Wiki

Recently, I discovered the Marvel Movies Wiki. I was doing research for future Marvel based movies. This site contains existing film industry information and rumors. In most cases, I don’t trust rumors. Although in the case of movie related news, 95% of the time, the rumors end up being true.

This Wiki currently has main pages for Thor, Upcoming Movies, Movies, and Current Events. I was shocked to see this Wiki currently has 1,837 pages. It gives casting information, pictures, a brief synopsis, a merchandise page, and more. Unlike the official Marvel site, anyone can edit this Wiki. There may be just released information that the user has access to or can post before the information is available on the official Marvel site. If you are a new fan of Marvel movies, this is the Wiki to visit. The information provided will bring you up to speed without having to read comic books and watch earlier versions of Spiderman, Hulk, Nick Fury, etc.

There are many of us that enjoy entering the world of Marvel Comics. Some people are avid collectors of merchandise pertaining to their favorite Marvel characters. I’ve always liked the movies based on the Marvel series of animation. For instance, I was one of the first people to see Spiderman starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. I have eagerly anticipated the newer releases as well.
I was going, to at least 8 different sites a week to get new Marvel movie news. By using Google Reader (RSS feeds from my most frequented sites), Diigo wiki bookmarks, and the Marvel Movies Wiki, I am currently using only 3 different sites for Marvel Movie news. Most of my information can be accessed within a few minutes.

Paul (2011)

Paul is a film about two blokes from England, who meet an alien named Paul. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (the comedy team that brought us Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) team up again as two Star Wars loving and alien oddities seeking friends. Seth Rogan is the voice of Paul. He does a great job. Much better as an alien, than in Green Hornet. After visiting Comic-con, they decide to take a Alien siteing tour through the western U.S. in a rental RV. What ensues is a laugh riot! I'm actually afraid to give too much away, because I don't want to ruin the movie. Do yourself a favor, if you liked Shaun of the Dead, go see this movie.

Battle Los Angeles

When invited to the movies this week, there was only one that fit into my schedule, Battle Los Angeles http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1217613/  . I had planned on waiting until it was on DVD, but I was pleasantly surprised after all of the bad reviews it was getting. The story is simple yet compelling. In the beginning sequence, the viewer is shown the aliens landing in our oceans along the coastline of major cities around the world. San Diego and the San Francisco area has already fallen to the enemy. Then, the films flashes back 24 hours. You are introduced to Staff Sgt. Michael Nance, he is putting in his resignation from the Marines, effective when his last group of recruits is trained. Suddenly, all hell breaks loose and he is assigned to a platoon under the leadership of Lt. Martinez, a newly made Lt. fresh from officer school with no field experience. The platoon is sent to rescue civilians that are trapped inside a police station. They must make there way on foot through now enemy occupied Santa Monica. The platoons struggle to keep the civilians and themselves alive to reach the FOB, the Santa Monica Airport. Aaron Eckhart as Staff Sgt. Michael Nance brought depth and feeling to his role. Michelle Rodriguez, Lt. Ellen Santos, played against her normal bad girl who kicks ass type, and did a great job. This is an alien invasion movie shown from the Marines point of view not the civilians, like in Skyline. They are two completely different movies. Many people felt that they were copies of each other, but I disagree. I recommend this movie to sci-fi  and action fans. It was definitely worth the price of a ticket and popcorn.

The Roommate

Don't waste any money on this one, just Netflix the movie Single White Female with Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The Roomate is a complete ripoff. I know it sounds harsh, but thank goodness it was the second feature and I already got to watch Unknown first. I hit my breaking point when Leighton Meester put a kitten in a dryer and claimed it got lost. This movie should be up for the Razzie this year.

The Dilemna (2011)

I figured Kevin James and Vince Vaughn, what a great comedic team! It was an opportunity to make a funny movie, that would be entertaining and directed by Ron Howard. Yay! Actually, my opinion is nay. I read reviews before I went to see this flick. It was a gamble, people either loved it or hated it. Ronnie (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Kevin James) have been best friends since college and are partners in an auto design firm. Jennifer Connely plays Ronnie's  long suffering girlfriend, Beth, who is helping him  to recover from a gambling addiction. Winona Ryder plays Geneva, Nick's wife. The friends are in the middle of their firms biggest bid for a contract, to work with Dodge to make an entirely battery powered Charger that sounds and runs like a gas powered one. Nick is the brains and Ronnie is the spin doctor of their firm. While planning his proposal to Beth, Ronnie sees Geneva and Flip (Channing Tatum) kissing. Now we've reached The Dilemna. Does he tell Nick? The resulting storyline is a train wreck just waiting to happen and personally I don't like paying good money to watch a predictable and cliched movie. Ms. Ryder was the best part of the movie. She has once again shown her great acting skills, which we haven't seen in awhile. Geneva is believably evil, yet you feel sympathy for her. Channing Tatum as Flip was great. He played against type and did a great and humorous job

A New Resident Evil flick

To all of you zombie horror fans, it's time to rejoice. Recent information has been released that the Resident Evil movies will continue. These movies are a pure guilty pleasure for me. I realize that they there are not for everyone, but for Max Brooks fans they are a great way to spend a few hours. They are high on action and crazy stunts, a little light on storyline but great fun. "Afterlife" was the first foray into 3D and when the executioner threw his hammer at Alice and Claire it was amazing. I hope the next one is also shot in 3D. Rumor is Milla Jovovich and Paul Anderson will return to the series. I can't wait for more news on one of my favorite movie franchises.
